Bruno's Story
This sweet boy is Bruno. He and his sister, Peppa, are kittens in my rescue that I pulled from a drain pipe when they were only 4 weeks old. The whole litter of five were always in perfect health, until last week. Bruno became very lethargic last Monday and presented with a temp of 105.8. I’ve experienced too many kittens this past year with FIP, so I knew time was of the essence. We were able to get him immediately into our vet and after receiving the results of his bloodwork, we had our answer. Dry FIP. Thankfully, I keep the oral meds in stock now so we were able to start treatment that day. Bruno was hospitalized for 2 days but upon returning home, he was back to his normal, wild and playful self. If I’ve learned anything on my journey with FIP kittens, timing is everything. Because we caught Bruno within hours of showing symptoms, the treatment was effective almost immediately. If you have a newly diagnosed kitten or cat, please know that there is help. Nancy Schmidt-Moulen has been my lifeline through treating 4 kittens so far, and now Bruno. I can’t tell you how many kittens I euthanized in the past because I had no idea about Mutian. Thankfully, I know now and every kitten in my rescue will get the chance to survive!!
